Tom Redfern: Furniture

These chairs make great use of the natural properties of elm and ash. Ash is used for rungs and cleft to maintain its strength, whereas tough hedgrerow elm is perfect for uprights. One rocker is made to go with the elm/ash dining series, the other uses sweet chestnut on a frame of beech ply for contemporay look with great strength.

The three legged chairs use steam bent ash, with a choice of seats. Carved wood is more traditional while the slats give a more modern, lighter feel. In both cases the cantilevered back makes this an extremely comfortable as well as elegant piece of furniture.
